New Life, New Direction
November 3, 2026

Why do old habits seem to linger in our daily lives so easily?
We can worship Jesus on Sunday and find ourselves speaking impatiently, nursing resentment, or chasing the same old desires on Monday. Those moments remind us how much we need to let our new life in Christ shape our everyday responses.
Paul begins with what Jesus has already done: we have been raised with Christ. Our lives are hidden with Him in God. We belong to Him, and that gives us a new life and a new direction for living.
“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” Colossians 3:2 (ESV)
What consistently occupies our minds influences where our lives are headed. Setting our minds on Christ means allowing His truth to shape what we desire, value, and pursue. We bring our concerns to Him and listen to His Word as we make ordinary decisions.
That also means dealing honestly with sin. Paul tells us to put to death what belongs to the old life. We cannot keep feeding greed, impurity, or selfish desires and expect them to lose their influence. What are we allowing in our heart and mind that Jesus is asking us to surrender?
Then Paul brings this new life into our relationships. Anger, slander, hurtful language, and dishonesty have no place directing how we treat people. The patience and grace we show at work and in the community needs to come home with us in our most treasured relationships with our family and within the church. Through the Holy Spirit, we can learn to pause, listen, and speak words that give grace.
God is still renewing us in the image of our Creator. As He changes us, He also teaches us to welcome one another across the differences that once divided us. Christ is the center of our shared life.
We live differently today because Jesus has made us new, not just better. This week, let that new life shape the next thought, the next choice, and the next conversation.
Love & Blessings,
Pastor Tim
